Description

Hio all,

Been a while since posted. Here's my latest one I did for my super short film, this is the intro/ending matte painting I created in photoshop with painting and photo manipulation.

Neverending Story fans (from the original 1984 movie directed by Wolfgang Petersen) rejoice! This was made by a fan for a fan as a quick message of following your dreams and doing the things that will help better the world with creativity.

For a movie that greatly inspired me and awes me ever since I was a little kid and watched it, I made a super short film for my senior year at Academy Art University as a visual effects film based on it's themes (the destruction of Fantasia because human imagination is lacking, and the saving of it from people's spark of imagination and creativity).

Also inspired by the great matte painters in the original movie, the team at ILM back then: Chris

Evans, Michael Pangrazio, Craig Barron, Caroleen Green, Frank Ordaz, Jim Danforth. Their work was amazing and someday I hope to have work their caliber down the road. I also want to thank Dylan Cole, as he was the first matte painter to catch my eyes (through Lord of the Rings) with his great work and inspiring story! And to my teachers Aaron Muszalski, and Catherine Tate at the Academy.

Preproduction time was 1 month, and production shooting and post production visual effects 1 month.

It got nominated for Best Visual Effects at my school's Spring Show 2005. 5 Matte paintings, 13 greenscreen shots. In related happy news, My Temple of Knowledge matte painting won Best Digital Matte Painting at the university's Spring Show 2005! Enjoy!

Directed by: David Luong
Lead Compositing/Matte Painting/FX: David Luong
Additional Comps and starring: Eloisa Honrada, Ron Coloma
Cameraman: Isaac Dietz
SoundFX: Dean Paul DeLeon
Music by: Matoi Sakuraba "Revival"

Running Time: 1min 55sec
Filesize: 53mb, mpeg4 quicktime video (click on link below)

Shot on DV, composited with Shake, dynamics in Maya, matte paintings in Photoshop

**Full high res version of Matte Painting can be seen with original photo at the bottom links as well.**

Ahhh this looks very well done. My bro did something similar at Uni with the green screen a few years back. I will have to have a look at the film soon.

Good work.
